and just how are ghost fleas going to make a dog itchy?

They just make a dog twitchy. And they never leave!

As good a reason to scratch as any.

Geeze. It’s about time to go to work on getting rid of all the cats and break out of this rut.

I’ve often wondered how much Gilligan knows firsthand about dogs since a lot of his material seems pulled from the distant past (like dog houses, tying dogs up outside to punish them, etc) or ‘dog’ archetype…but…does he think fleas have wings? First panel we are supposed to assume they are alive…and they are definitely drawn as little moths….

At least the collar killed them peacefully, thus they are only ghosts. If it had been the powder, they would have died painfully and would have come back as polterfleas.

Fleas don’t have wings…

Time for a flea exorcism. A vet has to tie him down and splash toilet water on while shouting “The power of Hartz compels you!”

Ghost fleas are the worst. Annoying and impossible to kill. You can only hope to pass them along to a cat or some other creature where they belong.
