This strip just jolted me. I didn’t realize just how frustrated I get when I go to a super market to simply buy a dozen eggs. Way too many choices! I especially like the cartons that show photos of so called happy, contented chickens and $1.50 added price.
I am really fortunate that my sister raises chickens and I can get several dozen at a time for free (of course, I do pay her back by helping with farm chores and farm sitting 10 days a year – so I guess not really free).
Left out the very best choice, which is pasture-raised. Those are actually raised outdoors and get to graze. Free-range just frees them from their cage, they’re still stuck indoors… but if that’s the only choice then at least be sure they’re grass fed and organic.
there’s no nutrition difference between cage-free and regular eggs and there’s hardly any difference between eggs from pasture-raised hens and regular eggs. The real differences are: …they make you feel better about your self.

What I want to know is how do they get the chickens to sit so close together when they lay their eggs?

Organic cage-free chicken are chickens the farmer didn’t have to mess with all the time. And they cost more.
