…he kept them out of harm’s way, gave them 3 squares a day, health care, school, and gave them back to their parents who were trying to enter the country illegally. But only after verifying that these were real parents, not gangs, human traffickers, or other criminals.
At least we don’t follow the lead of the Europeans; leave them on the boat until it sinks or they finally find a place that will let them land. Illegal may be illegal but that is no reason to treat people like inhuman scum. All the current administration is accomplishing is breeding the next generation of terrorists with a grudge. I’ve yet to hear a good argument as to why it is necessary to split families up; keep them together. What we see today is the result of everyone for the past few decades “kicking the stone down the road” and then complaining when it bounces wrong and breaks a window.
People aren’t “illegal”; actions are illegal. The only reason for this policy is punitive; if we make it nasty enough to come here, maybe no one who’s not just like us will come. As someone said, let’s carry it to the extreme and just machine-gun down anyone approaching the border.
And last, the right revels in its cruelty. See comments above.
