I have to admit that this is us. In fact, we only have housekeeping in about every three days. We ask for extra towels at the start of our stay, bag our trash, and put the recycle stuff in the containers by the elevators. It’s just me and my husband so no kids to clean up after, we’re not slobs. On the days we know housekeeping will be there, we make sure we’ve put things away so they don’t have to clean up around our stuff. We still tip the housekeeping staff at the end of our visits.
Exactly why I’ve never hired a maid. I once asked a friend who has used a maid service for many years how it works and why she always has to “pick up before the maid gets here” and she said they do deep cleaning but if you have toys, books, clothes all over the floor they would charge extra to do that part. They’re hired to do things like mop the floor, clean baseboards, bathroom, etc. but if you have clutter they won’t be able to get to the areas to clean them.
I told her, by the time I’m done picking up the mess, I won’t even need a maid as moping isn’t that hard. It’s the picking up the mess that I need help with! lol So forget it.

When I travel, I make my own bed, but that’s it.

Will the mom spend all her time cleaning or will she get out and see the island and take photos of the wedding.

Get up and go Ralph. Take the kids and have fun. By the time you get back, she’ll have a job at the hotel.

That’s why I don’t have a maid to clean my house. It’s too messy.
