That’s why you’re Street Wise Aunty , you’ve actually been on the streets and not done it all through a games visor and console .

Oh yes me too. I also didn’t have “helicopter” parents. As long as I was home when it got dark out we roamed the neighborhood, and the park, or wherever.

I have to turn off my router to get my grandsons off the couch. They have fun once they get out of the house.

I’m not quite as old as the hoopla-hoop generation but when I was young, sports and being outdoors were far more important than anything on TV! My parents had to make me come in long enough to eat supper! Watch the movie: “Ready Player One” and you’ll see where we are heading.

I was a loner, but when I could get outside, I chased bugs or played in the snow, and when I needed to come in, I drew lots of pictures.

Anishinaabe legend says Pukawiss created the dance. Some dancers have 20 or more hoops. Does this mean Wham-O is guilty of cultural appropriation?

Show a kid a Hula Hoop today, and they will want to know where to plug it in, or where you download the instructions, or even where the USB port is…

Yup…we had so much fun creating things to play with. Our imaginations knew no bounds…and as for me…I still have a great imagination and I still use it.

Me 2. I played outside with friends. Got plenty of exercise long before technology trapped kids indoors.

So you were born before automobiles, telephones, radios, televisions and airplanes?

My father used to tell me to go out and play with my friends…… my mother chose my friends for me and I wasn’t allowed out. Mother would never have allowed me to have the sort of technology that enabled me to communicate with others.
