A good cleaning tip for people who have patience: baking soda paste, rubbed into carpet on affected area, let dry out completely, and in this case, car heat bakes it dry; then vacuum it up. Repeat if necessary.

Just use lots of bicarbonate of soda. All decaying organic substances will smell.

I carry 3-4 dogs twice a day. One of them loves eating crap and then putting its face through the dog grill, lovely!
