If it included torture, we’d all chip in for that.

There is a web site: nomorobo that has information about how to block robot calls. You select your service provider and it takes you to its site with instructions on how to do it. Most providers provide this service. It is free for land lines and at a modest monthly fee for mobiles. If your phone receives a robot call, it rings once and hangs up. Check it out. I’ve been using the service for about 2 years – no spam, no ads and I see no evidence that your information is shared. Apparently the company has a deal with the carriers and makes money that way.

On my mobile, I’ve assigned a unique ring tone to my contacts. If I hear the default ring, I let it go to voicemail.

I hate to begrudge people a job, but we just don’t answer the phone anymore.

You know what would be great. Have a Jehovah’s Witness knock on your door just as a telemarketer is calling. I’d say to the Jehovah’s Witness, “here it’s for you”, and hand them the phone. Not that that’s going to happen.

For our landline, we purchased at Amazon: CPR V5000 Call Blocker – Block All Robocalls, Political Calls, Scam Calls, Unwanted Calls on Landline Phones. Block All Nuisance Calls at The Touch of A Button Using Caller ID. It comes with 5,000 built in numbers of the worst offenders, and you can add up to 1,500 more. We have blocked about 250 in a year and a half that we have had it. They keep changing their numbers, but it does save a lot of answering until they do. When a scammer-spammer-political ad-etc identifies themselves, push the red button and it gets added to the list. If on a remote phone, away from the base phone with the blocker, just push #2 [‘pound’ and then ‘two’], and it will add it. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0191XMBV2/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1
