so, this is Europa’s view of the USA? Darth Vader, super evil, out to conquer the world? what, just ‘cause we invaded, conquered and occupied another country , simply because we could?

    would Darth do that?

Nighthawk, you need to remember the history. We did not invade and defeat a country because we could, but because we declared war on terrorism, and defeated a government which openly endorsed and financially supported terrorism. Remember Saddam’s public statement that he would subsidize suicide bombings by providing financial support to the families of suicide bombers? That alone was reason enough to remove him, not even counting all the UN resolutions he ignored that mandated military consequences for his actions. So get real, and stop trying to flog this country for standing up to global terrorism wherever it may be found.

Actually, didn’t he provide that information to the media? He kinda did what they were supposed to be doing, but were too lazy.

Yeah, he probably grew a head a bit too big for that, but that’s a pretty common failing.

Oh, and that “disregard for privacy” is pretty absurd. Governments aren’t people. Their “privacy” may well hurt more than it helps.

beentherekinda: Almost all the Arab governments supported suicide bombers going into Israel. Saddam did not support Al Qaeda or Bin Laden. How did our invasion because of his alleged support of terrorism and WMDs work? Iraq is now democratically governed? Women have rights? The sizable Christian population lives in peace now? Have we now restored peace to the middle east? How did we punish the saudis who not only support suicide bombers in Israel but Al Qaeda itself? We punished the Saudis all right–by acceding to their demands tht we remove our military bases from their soil.

You may have “been there” but you musta had your eyes closed at the time.

Saddam imagined himself the clone of Nebuchadnazzer, started rebuilding Babylon….murdered his own citizens…went to war against Iran….KuWait…paid Jihadist-terrorists to murder Jews in Israel…threatened the USA… defied the UN sanctions for 17 years or more….bragged he was going nuclear…..why on earth would Bush and the PM of Great Britain even contemplate “taking care of Saddam” the nice Iraqi leader?????

When Messiah Jesus Christ of Israel, the Stone of Daniel chapter 2’s prophecies, comes back in person to Jerusalem, then all the kingdoms of the world of mankind will be ended by God….not by humans or armies of nations. Armageddon is God’s Justice against evil nations who continually curse Israel and the Jews. God promised in scripture to punish those who try to coerce the Jews to divide and give away the Promised Lands….and the USA government is totally guilty of that stupid policy!

DTP, sounds sort of like the latest Transformers movie. Ya think you can get Mel Gibson to play Stoned David? Armageddon sound like his kind of venue.

^^ This is politics, my dear disgusted not the Bible. Most people don’t think 2010 politics follow things written centuries BC. To them, you could as well quote the egyptian Book of the Dead.

beenthere; that’s a point of view from an american on the role of America in the World, but the rest of the World (not only the Arab World) really do see the US as a nation that invades countries just because it can. Not that Kim Jong Ill or Saddam would’nt have done worse, but you have the power to do it and your military bases are everywhere. A foreigner can’t help but feel more invaded than protected.

@pavlov - —– Its hard to take Assange’s “complete disregard for privacy” too seriously when he’s exposed the fact that certain political powers are merrily harvesting private information from their own citizens and the citizens and governments of other nations.

aahh. it’s all smoke ‘n’ mirrors. how many people read the declassified stuff about our invading NE japan in summer of 1941, and they retaliated by smacking Pearl Harbor and Luzon? OOOPS. day of infamy was right. oh and how about “operation Just Cause”? just ‘cause we wanted to. yup. don’t need no CIA drug running competition. and how about “remember the Maine”? remember the goof in the magazine that the US used to snag up all of Spain’s strategic coaling stations in the Pacific and Carribean? Assange is just baring it a few years early, is all. it’s all disgusting use of your trust in government, and their (mis)use of it and your tax money.

Assange is a bit more like Han Solo than Skywalker. Always yapping, gotta be the center of attention, but loved by many.
