I was on boomers in the Navy, away for 3.5 mos, home for 3, away for 3.5 again. Single guys got their “away pay” in advance, so they could take care of their bills and such. Married folks just continued their regular bi-weekly paychecks. Except, for some reason one fairly-newlywed couple wanted the advanced pay, and she managed to blow it in a month and half. Had to go to Navy Relief to survive until he got back. But at least she had a new TV to watch and stereo to listen to!

Boopsie, don’t let B.D. handle the finances when he returns.

Build on that and you can be $15,000 in debt in no time at all.

I’d say BD ‘mis’ handled the finances if she was $7k down but then realized he was away for nearly a year.
