Shultz’s daughters explain the rules at the Charles Schultz site. The person who is it hides, then the seekers call out “Ha, Ha!” The hider than calls out “Herman.” (Yes, this is different from the cartoon, but Schultz only had 4 panels.) Every seeker who finds the hider then hides with him until only one person is left. This person is the next “Herman.” The Schultz kids and their neighbors loved this game.
One of my favorite single panels of Peanuts is the bush yelling “HA HA HERMAN” (I know Chuck is in there). I used to climb into the big bush in our backyard and yell that. None of the humorless lumps of my family get it..

I can see where a beagle would be good at a game like this.

Waiting for them to all go home and leave him there; a typical Charlie Brown ending…

If you Google “HA HA Herman images” this strip comes up.

Ah, the dis-embodied head in panel 1 is disconcerting

A proper game of Ha, Ha Herman requires a disembodied head.
