Okay. I understand now why the Sunday Tarzan comics bit the dust. I like the 30’s, 40’s, 50’s and even 60’s Tarzan in Africa adventures. These are just Tarzan mixed with science fiction. Definitely not the same. I’m not putting down those of you that like this style of Tarzan strips, just saying I wouldn’t have bothered to read this if it was being carried by the Sunday paper in my area. Which it probably wasn’t as I have no memory of these later strips whatsoever.
@Old Comic Strip Lover : I read all of the Tarzan books. The fact is, most of them were pretty repetitive. Tarzan at the Earth’s Core wasn’t, and Tarzan and the Foreign Legion, which took place in Borneo or Sumatra in WW2 were not so much so. The environments were still jungle or near-enough but they were not quite so repetitive, Tarzan and the Ant Men might also be considered SF or Fantasy. And then there are the episodes involving Tarzan’s immortality.
The SF elements you complain about are mostly from Burroughs. Tarzan did go to Pellucidar. There wasn’t any overt connection to Barsoom, as shown here, but because Gridley was in contact with both Pellucidar and Barsoom, there is a connection to Tarzan. I think that Burroughs never contemplated Tarzan on Mars because of the difference in environments and weaponry.
Those of us who enjoyed John Carter and Tarzan are liking what we see so far.
We’re seeing a whole lot more Jane (and Tarzan) and less costume these days. In fact, I’m surprised these strips (ahem!) got past the censors back when they were first published.

I’m kind of hoping we get a free trip to Barsoom and get to meet John Carter and Dejah Thoris.
