When I was (briefly) a teacher, one night I was up past 10:00 pm grading papers and writing my lesson plan for the next day. My then-eight daughter poked her head into the study and saw that I really was busy. Still, she cleared her throat.
“Daddy, Will you come and say goodnight, and maybe tell a story?”
I looked at my work, sighed, and said, “I can’t Honey. I have so much …”. My voice faded away as mystery moisture began to collect in her eyes.
As a tear fell off onto her cheek, she whispered, “Don’t you love us any more?”

No leaf parade her in San Diego, just another fall day of sunny and mid 80’s.

We saw one from our front porch. The wind fairies are active today!

I’d sure hate to rake the leaves afterwards.

Unfortunately down south the colors are muted so it isn’t as beautiful as it is further north.

I quit teaching the next day.

If a leaf parade came by my window, that means there is a hurricane.
