Totally disagree. It is annoying to the people I want to actually talk to when I say “try that again” for the third time— which is when I generally give up to avoid being even more of an annoyance, and makes me feel cut off from the world. Making up versions of what you think was said in your own mind is just a form of isolation. Granted, there are quite a few people who I don’t especially want to hear from, but I miss the ones that I do.
