Two days? What a piker. I’ve had students working projects riding the bus to the event. Glueing, writing the report, even building the whole craft-stick bridge were common sights even as we pulled into the parking lot.
so caulfield can do a project under pressure, what does that have to do with the other students abilities. Michael Kevin Kearney graduated high school at age 8… does that make caulfield a slacker?
One of the best things about being a syndicated cartoonist is that you can work like mad and get ahead on your deadlines and then you’re free to take some good long vacations or sabbaticals. At least I think it’s a pretty good thing. No syndicated cartoonist I know seems to have been able to pull it off.
God knows I struggle. There are a lot of reasons, mostly all getting back to entropy of one sort or another. If you’re not letting work expand to fit the time allotted, then the rest of life’s obligations fill up what time you can earn. They see exactly when you’re sort of catching up and swarm around you like seagulls around a spilled take-out box, squawking “Me!” “Me!” “Me!” But mostly I think it’s the deadlines themselves that thwart the deadline efforts. The pressure makes a difference. You don’t generally see records broken in training or even in meaningless meets, after all.
So, yeah. I admit it. I work best under deadline conditions. Or maybe I’ve been under deadline conditions so long it’s all I know, and I’m rationalizing. Though I did get a pretty good cartoon out of the thought process. Just under the wire, too.

Caulfield appears to have motivation confused with adrenaline. That’ll change after he hits 35.

Pity that philosophy has become the mantra for so many

The bad news — the project was for Science and involved observing the 7-day growth of a lima bean in a glass (wet paper towel for support/moisture).
