A cornucopia of ice cream is an excellent idea, except for the fact that Almithea’s horns would probably dispense gelato or Greek yogurt rather than Carvel soft serve, though, now that I think of it… Tom Carvel was a Greek immigrant.
I admire the film technique of using soft focus in the last panel. One could argue that this is unnecessary in a comic strip and therefore an affectation, but I find it intriguing — at least, in small doses.
I did a cross-fade effect in a comic I drew back in (mumble mumble). It wasn’t good drawing, and the effect was totally gratuitous in context, but what the heck! I’m not sure what inspired it—maybe reading about Will Eisner borrowing effects from Orson Welles!
I love how much everyone loves the blurred effects in the last panel. Coloring over it on a new layer with a Darken blending mode would prevent the artifacts of white around the window.

I’m impressed with the use of depth of field to show perspective — I don’t think I’ve seen that before in a comic strip.

Agreed! A form of focus. We are focused on Nancy, but Fritzi is still in our picture. This is one for the highlight reels.

Nancy is a positivist since she wouldn’t have enough money to have it filled.

There aren’t too many ice cream trucks around in November.
