When they resurfaced our cul-de-sac around 2004, I took photos of my daughter standing on the manhole cover that had become a pedestal, and laughing, channeling her inner Alice. (I only found out about the strip later.)
Beni once used it as a soapbox to protest the unfairness of naptime. Oh, and I’m reasonably sure that Mother Nature lives there, too!
I like to take the lid off and climb down inside.
