One Fish, Two Fish isn’t really a Seuss story. It’s kinda a series of captioned pictures. That doesn’t make it less enjoyable. Some of his books are pretty complex and others are straightforward. For example, the lesson of “Green Eggs and Ham” is pretty simple and anyone can understand it EXCEPT FOR THE CURRENT TEXAS SENATOR who’s apparently even simpler.
I remember reading advice to would-be picture book writers. Most kids’ picture books are read once and that’s it, which, given their price tags, is why they don’t sell so well. The exceptions are Dr. Seuss and Maurice Sendak, who reward rereading.
Unlike the previous dream sequence, this one could end with Heart learning something, giving it narrative purpose. Just please don’t let Dean show up again.
