The reason that genre never took off is that none of the lyrics rhymed.
(The only really big hit with lyrics that don’t rhyme was “96 Tears” by ? and the Mysterians.)
And That is Why They Call it the Oranges.
It’s so soothing that most people find it boring to tears. That’s why it is so forgettable.
