The third panel reminds very much of Stephen King’s novel “The Revival.”
I usually have so much fun reading horror that I forget to be scared.
But that book. Its last chapters present such a relentlessly horrible picture of Cosmic Reality that I was genuinely filled with dread, of a kind that bordered on disgust. Great writing, but a book I’ve never recommended to anyone. I’d feel guilty.
I think it was King’s attempt to go Lovecraft one better. Some of it did, some not so much.
