Even with forty trick or treaters this year, I had leftover candy. Hi-Chews, a Japanese candy made in a variety of flavors, invented as a “halfway” between candy and chewing gum, apparently because of a Japanese social reluctance to chew something that later has to be removed from the mouth. Sort of like a super-gummy gummy.
Delicious, even though American stores only carry fourteen flavors. In Japan, there are [or have been] over 175 flavors. I get them by the bag at Target.
My friends at our weekly “Ralph’s Bar and Grill” meeting all share leftover Halloween treats. They all loved the Hi-Chews.

I have never heard that line before but at least it is better than “Trick or treat, smell my feet!”

Okay, that second line is enough to get the door slammed in the face as far as I’m concerned.

It wouldn’t have been official anyway. C.B. doesn’t have a costume.
