Hah! This reminds me of the joke about the little kid who asked his mom why she was sticking a knife into the cake she was baking. Her answer was, “I do this because it will tell me when the cake is finished; the knife will come out clean”. A little while later, the kid ran into the other room to tell his mom, “Guess what. I just cleaned all of the dirty knives!”
Watching TV in our living room as kids, my brother would wait till I’d get up to go to the kitchen for a snack and ask for me to bring him the same. I got tired of that ploy.
One night I said I was going to get some chocolate milk, and he made his usual request. I brought him the milk, but dosed it with blue food coloring… which made it a sickly gray color. He refused to drink it, so I did. I thought that might break him of his habit of getting me to do his kitchen run for him, but no.
I finally made that happen the night he asked me to bring him a glass of Coke when I went to get mine. This time, I dosed it with garlic juice. No change in color… but….
After that, he quit requiring that I run his snack errands.
