seems like Mr. and Mrs. van Pelt never taught their daughter how to answer the telephone
A Millennial and a rotary phone.
There was no Caller ID back then. Maybe it was a robocaller.
I guess it is not a smart phone…
I agree, Lucy. “Ring, ring, ring” isn’t a great pick-up line!
That’s exactly what I do when it’s a caller ID number I don’t recognize!
About 60 years or so early there, kiddo.

Had a nice ring to it…
Just as well. Nobody likes trying to talk to a little kid on the phone.
I wonder if kids these days would have the same problem – they may never have seen one of those!
By the time cell phones came, it was Lucy’s job to teach her parents.
Some people just should not answer the phone.
She’s from the future?
reminds me of my old vet who had a parrot who’d squack out Hello when the phone rang.
We don’t have one of those black ringing things at our house.

Clue from Sesame Street martians: “Ring, yip yip yip!”

One of my nephews, when he first began to talk, would say “hello” ever time the phone rang. The first time he did it in front of me, I began laughing so hard I couldn’t answer mine.
That is how somebody today would react
I’m glad I’m gen x.
