She’s right. Somehow, they really DO taste better folded over!

Even in the book Happiness Is A Warm Puppy, they say “Happiness is a bread and butter sandwich folded over.”

She’ll be even more trouble in a few years when she’s the same age as you.

When I worked at an ice cream parlor, we would “cut” certain fruit toppings with water. Thought that it was just to make it easier to serve, but after I read that people “cut” recreational drugs with other materials, I figured that it was a money saving thing. I wonder if this was a term back then, and this joke was meant to have two meanings. NOT a drug reference, just the fact that “cutting” something waters it down

I love the way Charlie Brown is looking at all of us in the third panel. And I’ve always preferred to toast the bread and let the butter melt into it.

When I was that age – we’d sprinkle sugar on our bread and butter sandwich: real butter and white bread!

A peanut butter sandwich has bread and peanut butter. A ham sandwich has bread and ham. Does a bread and butter sandwich have bread, bread, and butter?

Not sure what year this is from but lots of people from the 50’s and 60’s may not have had the luxury of peanut butter or jelly. People used to get by on much less than today.
