I can see the ER report now: bird with large beak attacked by late Christmas package, resulting in multiple abrasions and loss of feathers.
The comic strip title panel shows in the postmark a January 9, 1972 date – the date this Sunday Peanuts strip was first run!

We have a mailbox with a door on each end. Coulda jammed Woodstock straight through.
