catlady1, Go Comics bleeped me for the same word several weeks ago. Since then I have seen that (and worse) in comments and the comics. What’s up with that?
I guess she should have just ate one on the way home… Another classic case of do as I say, not as I do. Elly is portrayed as such as wonderful role model.
I used to love those Hostess (I think) sugar-coated, raspberry-jelly-filled donuts that come in a box of 6 or 8. A couple of years ago, it finally sank in that the small print said “flavored”, RASPBERRY flavored DONUTS. The ingredient list reveals that there is not a scintilla of real raspberries in them.
I absolutely love jelly-filled donuts! They are my biggest weakness … that and M&M’s! Just like crack to me!!!
Meanwhile, I agree with WebSpider — I’d have just eaten one in peace before I got home so I wouldn’t have gotten busted by the kids eating one before dinner when I told them they couldn’t have one until after dinner!!!!!
If she would have explained the reasoning… then it wouldn’t have been hypocrisy. For instance, if my kids have even the tiniest of snacks before supper, they won’t eat their supper. However, I am positive that I can eat a donut and still eat a meal.
But like previous posters, I would have probably just ate one in the car to avoid the whole controversy. :)

After being found out, Elly goes to the hospital to have the partially swallowed donut removed and to have her eyeballs reattached to her eyesockets.

catlady, notice that when you put “quotes” around things, they get through.

Elly appears to be a two-fisted eater! I don’t care for jelly/jam donuts either – give me custard any day.
