I have a classmate that referred to something as “cute” in a condescending way…it was a musical group made up of Indigenous Canadians who fused their traditional music with EDM.
I will speak from experience how badly condescension can backfire on you. When we went to competitions, we were often being told that we were too little and too cute, and that Indians don’t ‘do’ martial arts. And once the match began, we would come after them like rabid otters. The only problem is that others are always expecting that you should have something to prove, and the people who are on your side actually have the highest expectations.
Of course, I’m still waiting to see if Nancy ever gets her hands back on that robot. This baiting seems to suggest that she must.
Little Miss Magnet is getting to be so awfully damn annoying that I would not be upset if Nancy started a “rumble” with her. I am not advocating that…. but…. her “how cute”…. hell, it set my teeth on edge!
Even though there are a few ways Nancy’s response can be interpreted… my interpretation is that Nancy recognizes Miss Magnet’s disdainful tone… and her comeback to Miss Magnet is strong and upfront.
I really like how Olivia is exploring through this arc how Nancy is having to suffer the consequences of her behavior (not running the robot), but at the same time we see how very much Nancy really cares (whether she wants to or not) with her defense of the team.
Privileged brats are like that. Groomed to think themselves superior they act just that way. So hard bitten Nancy would be good to use the robot for a one-on-one a mano-e-mano robot battle.

Like Nancy, I wanted to throw them in a river.

Nancy takes what she needs, and demolishes the rest.

Inspired by ShadeBlackfox, we should open a book on the outcome.
2/1 Nancy’s school wins, Esther at the controls
4/1 Magnet school wins
25/1 Nancy’s school wins, Nancy at the controls (and OJ is later found tied up in Guy Gilchrist’s basement)
2/1 on: Rollo’s school wins, with a robot designed and built by their tutor Helen Greiner, and everybody learns a valuable lesson.
Female webcomic artists aged around their mid 20s are ineligible to enter, for obvious reasons.

Why is everyone in the strip getting so big? Snacking too much when building the robots?….no exercise. The look of more and more kids today.
