We had to do this in about eighth grade. Bug collections, leaf collections. Work for weeks collecting, classifying, mounting etc…and the minute they were graded, Mom tossed them in the trash as “clutter.”

Ms Derkins has a big mouth, literally.

Calvin, give her the .35 cents and throw in a couple of smooches. She will be putty in your hands and the bugs will be yours.

Suzie’s bugs would cost you way more than 35 cents, Calvin.

Well, it this is not a dream, then he is learning a good lesson for later in life. Like how not to panic and to think fast when you forget your wifes anything.

Not all is lost yet! I bet Calvin can find a tonne of bugs in the schoolyard!

Calvin, just tell the teacher you have pinworms.

Maybe you can tell her that you brought a germ collection. All you’d need is a hanky.

Calvin, just man up and face the music.

Calvin, check yourself and all the kids on the bus for head lice.

Young boys are usually fascinated with bugs of all kinds. Surprising that Calvin didn’t collect any!

At least he cares enough to feel desperate.

I bet Susie is setting him up.

This reminds me of the time my son…in grade school….on the day the science project was due for the science fair, quickly grabbed some magnets and put them on the table as his “project”…..an embarrassing day

A real procrastinator wouldn’t have worried about it until he got into the classroom.
