Despite being more of a dog person, I am for some reason a known cat magnet. One time a friend’s cat actually went as far as to, completely apropos of nothing, take a long jump from the table she was lounging on, to the sofa I was sitting at, just so she could perch on the back of the sofa above me.
This might sound innocuous, but it surprised everyone in the room since first off, this was the first time I’d ever even met said cat, and secondly, the cat was extremely old and no-one expected her to even be able to make such a jump, much less to be bothered to for a complete stranger.
I strongly suspect that cats somehow just know I am a dog lover, and are trying to lure me over to the feline side of the force…
Possibly, but, it’s probably just curiosity on the part of the cat; why is this human not adoring me? One of my friends just wasn’t an animal lover, nothing against them, they just didn’t enter her radar growing up and she never developed her “furry feelings”. Our dog and cats never bothered her. We think they were sensing she just had no feelings for animals, so they left her alone. (Tho’ she did tell me that one of our cats was truly beautiful…for a cat.)

I’m a dog person, but I can tolerate a well behaved cat.
