Joe: Since the Internet is glutted with social network stuff, creating an alternative could be the next big thing... now all we need to do is find someone who can lead the way to a new era of anti-social networking. Kate: Daddy's on the phone... he wants to know if you'd like to be the chosen one. Danae: Sigh... What for this time?

Oooo Danae as “The Chosen One”. This cannot be good. Funny, but not good.

Anti-social? Danae IS PERFECT!

How about a network where everyone tells vicious lies and malicious rumor about each other. We could put it on a hill in Washington D.C. The money to operate it could come from corporations and labor unions. They could do nothing but spread dissatisfaction.

So when they make a movie about the founding of this new Network, who’s going to play Danae??
wicky about 14 years ago
Groucho Marx can play Danae.
GROG Premium Member about 14 years ago
I just knew this would eventually lead to Danae.

Again, what would the ASN look like? Everyone would be insulting everyone and commenting on how bad they were and how they shouldn’t live and…Wiley, you still owe US the royalties!!! Let’s get together and sue and see if we can get Jason Long to play me and Jon Stewart to play Wiley and…Wait, someone might be stealing my idea!!!

“… the chosen one.” “… this time?” How many other times?
Barbaratoo about 14 years ago
As the queen of whatever-it’s-called when you change the subject in comments, there’s a “joke” in a series called The Beiderbecke Tapes where they start sentences with, “We’re on the brink of a new era, if only…” and something interrupts the rest. Re: FB, I kinda like that I can NOT answer and/or refuse to accept “friend requests.” I feel a sort of snob power - haha! My “friends” only include my sister, 2 sons, 2 nieces and cousin. The rest can go to blazes.

I think the rules ImaginaryFriend posted should work just fine for an anti-social networking site. I think I especially like being able to punch up the “don’t like” button. Add that button to a few of the commercial, political, and “celebrity” Facebook accounts and watch those numbers skyrocket.

If we all stay at home, communicating online, the nut jobs with the guns won’t have any targets to shoot at.

quanticobaby about 14 years ago
Pardon me, but isn’t this site a “social” thing also?? Comments are commented upon, personal items are aired, everyone has an opinion and says so, and sometimes differences emerge. Soooooo…….
Kali about 14 years ago
Hasn’t Danae already created an anti-social network? This sounds like something she would have done a LONG time ago… :-)

Yes, these comics boards are possible the alternative to FB etc. But I use FB mostly for a bit of family and a lot of local friends who play at SCA with me, and comment here (and elsewhere) on comic strips.
