My reaction differs. I once had a tractor-trailer that came one Christmas. The trailer was a shiny thick aluminum and the tractor was red cast metal. I had it for years until my ex- gave it to a family down the street. “Lent it” is what she claimed. After she left me I inquired about the truck and no one remembered it. I was at a toy show in York around ’99 or 2000 and saw one in pristine shape with a price tag of $125. When I see one now the price keeps on climbing. Sigh.
I knew a guy who owned a Chevy dealership. (His father was the original owner.) He told me they got one of the first Corvettes into their dealership. He told his father, “Maybe we should hang onto this; it might become a classic.” His dad said, “Son there is no way we are hanging on to a $3500 car.”
I had one of the first Hamilton Electric watches back in the 50s when it stopped working I sold it for $50.00 because it had a 24 carat gold case. They are now selling for $750.00.

Any kid who had Action Comics #1 and threw it in the recycle pile for the war effort has the same reaction.

So many of us older people kind of wish we kept our toys.

If kids never broke their toys, there would be thousands of them and they wouldn’t be worth anything.
