I read an article in one of my trivia books about “The Fight for Clean Milk.” Among the horrors mentioned were “swill milk” from cows who were fed waste from food production factories, milk with chalk added to give it a nice white color, and sick cows (T.B, for example) passing their illnesses through their milk.
