“Chapter One” and “It was a dark and stormy night”… two of the best openings in comic book novel attempting!

Try Chapter 13 for the follow-up.

At least I got past the first page. Couldn’t decide who killed the victim – too many who wanted her dead.

Writing is hard, math is easy.

She might be making the classic mistake of not actually having a story worked out before sitting down to write it. The cliche of the hack writer is someone who has no ideas yet, but assumes something will just flow-as-they-go.

Go back and read the Prelog to find out what the premise of the story was.

I figured she’d go with the classic “Call me Broomhilda.”

If you have no story to tell, then writing fiction isn’t for you. Most of us who write have so many stories that we’ll never have the time to write them all. Our story ideas rise like bubbles in champagne. The real problems are insecurity about writing them and not having the craft to write them properly. The craft can be taught, but the insecurity is something you deal with yourself.

It’s a promising beginning, Ms. Broom-Hilda, but I’m afraid our publishing company cannot offer you a million-dollar advance just yet….
