Jackie Gleason was often seen with a cup on his show, and, on one program, he commented, “This is a new brand of coffee called ‘Chock Full O’Booze!’” Oh, yeah, like THAT was a surprise….

Also, Maxwell House doesn’t contain any houses. Or Maxwells.

Speaking of the South Pole, I saw Disney’s “Penguins” yesterday.

I did not appreciate Mr. Rogers nearly enough when he was around. Once he was gone I began to see what we had. Quite rare. Amazing person with amazing character and a natural dedication to decency.

Peanuts aren’t nuts (they are legumes) and coffee beans aren’t beans (they are seeds). Lots of things are pretenders, including some people.

I kind of knew that about Chock full of Nuts. (It’s my brand.)

Andrew Zimmern used to drink it until he later found out it was missing the “nuts” that he prizes so highly in his bizarre foods!

So coffee drinkers who are allergic to nuts can drink this brand without worry.

    P. S. The reason for its odd name? That was originally the name of a New York City business that sold… guess what? Yep, first sold nuts to theater-goers and later in a series of lunch counters. The coffee at the counters was so popular that when the shops went out of business, the coffee was marketed under the old business name.

Here’s a trailer for a documentary about Fred Rogers. If you can watch it and not rent or stream or otherwise see the movie… well, Mr. Rogers could have helped you growing up. Perhaps he still can.

Also, here’s Mr. Rogers, Fred Rogers, on what is often said to be his best show ever, speaking about death.
