A much admired Methodist bishop in Atlanta once took a lady to see a play at the famous Fox Theater. If you’ve been there, you know that the carved and painted ornamentation includes a sky full of tiny electric stars set in the ceiling.
The bishop became so entranced by the faux heavens that he couldn’t follow the play. Unfortunately he was also distracted from his companion.
When the play ended, and they were on the street, he hailed and paid for a cab to take her home, saying “I’m sorry, my dear, but I’ve just realized there’s something I must do.
He spent the night on a bench, looking up at the stars, until sunrise.

In medieval times, stained glass was used to filter out the secular world and allow only the divine in.

Good to remember God’s rainbow – and that everyone should stand in loving peace under that banner.

Stained glass windows are nice. But sometimes it is only in the darkness that we can see the light.
I walk in the pre-dawn hours under the stars. It’s a better light show than any made by man.
