junco, it’s a proverbial truth: If you find yourself dealing with more than a couple of annoying bucket-heads on a daily basis, you’re probably one of them.

wdave, it’s true that there are certain annoying bucket-heads who are totally oblivoius to the concept of annoying bucket-headedness, but I think it’s unlikely that it would occur to them to seek the annoying bucket-heads. I’ve most often heard your formulation used in the context of poker games: If you can’t figure out who the pigeon is, you’re probably the pigeon.

The girl is in preschool. There is no way that she ever considers that she herself might be annoying. And she’d also never accept the possibility that someone else would actually think her less than perfect. Wait ‘till she’s a teen for that one. Then, she won’t believe anyone could think that she isn’t some sort of freak.
