Mom: If you're nice to Kevin, you can go see his puppy. Alice: Oh, boy! I'll be so nice! Wait a minute. Kevin is annoying. But he's got a puppy! What if his puppy is annoying? But what if it's really cute? Oh, I hate it when I think two things at once!
The girl is in preschool. There is no way that she ever considers that she herself might be annoying. And she’d also never accept the possibility that someone else would actually think her less than perfect. Wait ‘till she’s a teen for that one. Then, she won’t believe anyone could think that she isn’t some sort of freak.
