Recently, in Costa Rica, we were lucky to experience the sighting of a sloth doing this! Actually, he/she had already done its business and was in the process of slooooowly walking back toward the tree…and climbing up the tree. It was on the property of the hotel, so everyone came out to watch this event. Took quite a while, so not easily missed. LOL.

You wonder why they do it this way instead of just letting it fall from the canopy down to the forest floor.
