In the original German, Cinderella wore golden slippers with furry trim. Somewhere during the translation from German to French to English the fur got lost and the shoes became glass. Then Disney got hold of it, and things changed radically. What Disney did to Pocahontas was nothing compared to what the did to Cinderella, not least of which was changing her name, from Aschenputtel.
