I can understand the peanut, but what’s the purple one supposed to be?

Pearls Before Swine earlier this week did this “Save the Date” gag better.

Dates grow on trees, don’t they? Help me guys!

This is allegorical. The Date is God. Instead of revealing Herself directly to mankind, the peanut and raisin (trail mix) by calling, She sends a save-the-date card (the Bible). The last time She appeared, it was to Moses in the guise of a burning bush, hence the trail mix appear as firemen.

The purple one is a prune I think. The card is asking them to save their friend who is a Date stuck in his tree. They are in a fire house so they rescue things like cats and dates from trees!

It is a play on words with pictures added in. This is a graphic representation of a PUN. Are puns overly funny? Not really… but they can be smile inducing, when you see one.

He doesn’t call cuz this way you have to RSVP in person.

Somehow the got the crazy idea that calling someone is rude and you can’t text from a rotary dial phone.

Something smell funny, and it ain’t this joke. Oh, oh! Gotta go now.

Seems to me the like is the date (a type of fruit) has sent a postcard to save him from being up a tree instead of calling them on the phone. Like if someone has a wedding or something “Save the Date”!!!

I don’t understand any of it…. and I’m not going to waste time trying.
