The gap between her Proust and his Ironman would seem to be unbridgeable.

Growing old is mandatory. Growing up is optional.

Many of us don’t grow up so much as just learn to behave better in public.

My kids long ago realized that I wasn’t going to grow up. The grandkids are starting to realize it now.

My wife and I have been married for 34 years now … our son’s in his late 20s … and we’re still getting our comic books in on a regular basis.

On the other hand, why should Andy have to be the Wendy to Roger’s perpetual Peter Pan? She probably feels that it would be nice to have someone with a little more sophisticated, adult tastes to relate to at the end of the day.

It makes me wonder what she saw in him in the first place, since their literary interests are, as sandfan pointed out, light-years apart (since she was an English major, after all, and who knows WHAT Roger’s major in college was), and they couldn’t be further apart in terms of life philosophies, work ethic, parenting strategies, or even ability to read a room. I guess opposites really DO attract!

I disagree with Andi. I have been reading comics for over 30 years now and I still enjoy them

In the “I want to be a Millionare” arc, Roger said that he was an English major as well. Though whether he passed his classes is up for debate.
