Two of my Labs did not like water and refused to go into the lake after their favorite ball. They would stand at the edge of the water and whine. They did not get into mud puddles either. Actually, none of my Labs would get into mud puddles, and they did not roll in awful smelling stuff outside either, though there were a couple who did like to get into the lake or the pool.
Does your dog like rain? Ours does not. We believe she had been crated a lot, left alone and tied up outside a lot by her three previous owners. She is part Husky and another breed. We thought she was half Lab but apparently not. My wife is out and knows the name of the other breed so I cannot ask her just now—I cannot remember. It has been raining lately and she wants as little to do with rain whether it is a downpour or just a drizzle. Does your dog like rain or like our Maggie hate it? :-) If you have a cat does it like to swim? We have a Bombay and they like to swim.
