We have a standing rule in our house, respect the person to whom you are speaking enough to get up and walk to where that person is. Phoning/texting the person is ok, anything is better than shouting from one room to another, or one floor to another for that matter.

oh, Dad’s going to yell at you, Elliott, by asking why you can’t get the milk and cookies yourself

Pete as he flops on the couch; “Great, I’ll have some chocolate chips, oh and how about some macrons?”

Do you shout?
Yes. (Flat; all rooms adjacent to the corridor/each other and open doors due to the cat.)
Or use “internal call” on my landline phone.

“Great idea! I could use a break. And while you’re at it – we ‘re out of milk; you’ll have to go to the store to get some.”

No….
not really due to politeness or decorum..
It just sounds kinda dopey if you shout at yourself, and there’s nobody else here.
But yeah…. long as yer up, Elliot….
I like chocolate chip ones, too…
Though if all you have is store-bought…. how about some Oreos…. or Mint Milanos?
