^ Brazil is another country beset by floods with many hundreds of deaths and too much rain ruining their agriculture. It is already affecting food prices locally.
I had to reboot my computer here because of some ad. It looked like some computer game or something. When I clicked to go on the “Views Business” page, one of those annoying “are you sure you want to miss those great deals?” popups, except that one didn’t let me to anything, I couldn’t even close it.
I know genius membership doesn’t cost much here, but thosse are the kind of ads you’d expect from an illegal movie download site, not something like this.
Holy crap. Seems South Africa also affected by floods which caused billions of rands in damages and destroyed many crops.
My home in SA narrowly missed being flooded. My tenant said my home’s flashflood diversion defences seem to have worked (put in place 13 years ago). The little Hennops river half a kilometer from it became a raging torrent (well known to happen). Fortunately, my home is atop a hill and is usually “only” affected by waters rushing down.
A local rescuer died when he was swept away when his canoe capsized.
^ I’m switching my ISP from Rogers telecom to BellAliant. I’m getting a wireless modem instead of the wired one Rogers gave me back when I had my desktop (I have a tiny little laptop now).
My new ISP has internet security softwares with their service. I’ll see how efficeint it is…

They are installing wireless tommorrow. It’s my last day to cut my teeth on that chewy ethernet cable! (chew chew chew)

Having lived in hurricane prone areas all my life, my heart goes out to all those who have lost their belongings to the floods.
Hopefully the worst is over.
