At the time of this stripā€™s original publishing, the music died 13 years ago (60 years at the present time).

Sounds like radio stations that think ā€œAmerican Pieā€ is the only song Don McLean ever did.

Iā€™d think the bird would be more into ā€œSoul Sacrificeā€ by Santana or Jimi Hendrixā€™s rendition of ā€œThe Star-Spangled Banner.ā€

I kinda wonder if Woodstock would like Weird Alā€™s Parody of ā€œAmerican Pieā€ā€¦ ā€œThe Saga Beginsā€ is fun!

Even the best songs can become annoying if you have to hear them over and over again!

During its day, ā€œLouie, Louieā€ was played ā€˜to deathā€™ for months ā€¦ then the Beatles appeared, and it was forgotten about in a week.

When I was very young I used to beg my oldest sister to play ā€œIn-A-Gadda-Da-Vidaā€ over and over and overā€¦

American Pie replaced El Passo as a DJā€™s favorite record for getting a potty break. Nowadays, the computers that play the songs selected by the big conglomerate that own 100 other stations donā€™t care.

We have a local station that claims to play a ā€œmix.ā€ I imagine the same songs are playing at the same time in other markets everywhere. Unfortunately the mix is based on a national ā€œaverageā€ and doesnā€™t match the local market preferences as indicated on Fridays when the station queues up listener requests.

American Pie was a little early for me (I was 9). But I remember not being able to do anything without hearing a disco Bee Gees song for a while in the day.

I saw him and Judy Collins in Topeka, Kansas 3 or 4 years ago. I noticed he was at one of our Oklahoma casinos this month, so heā€™s still out there.
