    I thought I saw 80-1 too, which would never happen unless all the other horses fell down, but at 150% zoom the “8” becomes a very fancy “2” instead. That might be possible. If the best horses fell down.

    Racing odds are not based on the number of horses running. Any odds are possible because it is based on the amount of money bet. For example, in a two horse race, if someone bet $1000 on one horse and someone else bet $1 on the other one, then the odds would be 1000 to one against the lower wagered horse (not considering the tracks cut off the top).

    In a four horse race with bets of $1000, $500, $250, and $1, the odds on the first horse would be 7 to 4 and the last horse would be 1750 to 1.
