Don’t feel bad about not recognizing the guys, folks – even within the same language groups you’ll find that the media scene varies wildly from country to country – someone who’s a superstar in the UK will often be unknown in the US or Australia, for example and vice versa.
Across the language barrier it’s far worse still. All kinds of good stuff is written in languages other than English but never sees a translation into English.
And, again, vice versa.
Even if we all wind up speaking Esperanto the geographic barrier at this time still plays a major part in what you get to read and see.
