I’ve worn glasses since I was a freshman in HS. My biggest mistake was wearing them every single day when I should’ve only worn them moderately. Now I have Velma Dinkley eyes whenever I don’t have my glasses on……..
Got mine in the fourth grade when I started squinting at the blackboard in school. I was told, only wear them for reading and watching TV… guess what my two favorite activities were?
I wore glasses from 5th grade through high school. Pregnancy changed my eyesight to where I didn’t need glasses for a year or two. After 3 more pregnancies, I didn’t have to wear glasses for years!! I am only just now, 6 years after the birth of my youngest, needing glasses for some reading, but only on occasion.
Wow! I’d forgotten that one. Was told that when I got glasses at 6 years old. “wear them full-time for a few years and never need glasses again!” Yeah that worked…I’m 63 years old and have worn glasses ever since then! lol
I remember being in school and wondering why the teacher even bothered doing whatever it was up at the board. In 4th grade the school brought in vision screening, and I was sent to the principal’s office because I said, “What apple, what table?” when asked, “Is the apple on the table?” They assumed I was being “whatever they assumed!” I was that bad! I got glasses in the 5th grade and could not believe it was possible to see what was written on the chalkboard or leaves on the trees!

I never needed glasses because I listened to my mother and didn’t sit to close to the tv or watch it in the dark.
