State of the Union II: Sitting together Man 1: ...but I wouldn't want my daugher to marry one. Man 2: Goddam half-wit, panty-waist, liberal idiots are as bad as I suspected! Man 3: Cold-blooded precambrian, conservative troglodytes aren't all that bad. Man 4: Smile? I am smiling! Man 5: Isn't this bi-partisan chumminess fun? Man 6: Like a colonoscopy.

I think a colonoscopy is more successful.

These people have to think that we are absolutely dumb to buy this sitting together ruse. The only way to make this smoke-and-mirrors game more obvious than it already is is to write “smoke-and-mirrors” in the caption!

LMAO! They look like my son did when I made him hug his little sister in front of his friends.

Yes, it was mostly symbolic, but there was one positive benefit to the sitting together: it lessened the herd mentality on both sides. You know, our side would stand up and rah-rah, then their side would stand up and rah-rah, and so forth. With the seats mixed, that was lessened.

Maybe they found out that the other doesn’t smell as bad as they presumed.

RE: iamthelorax.
Very well put and exactly the problem. I am guessing your son is a little kid, like under 10 years old. Natural behavior for a child. We even expect children to act like that, especially big brothers toward little (YUK!!!) sisters.
However, the obvious rears its ugly head and since you folks are mature and responsible, I won’t write more regarding little boys and their lack of maturity since they, unlike we, don’t have any.
The kumbaya mention? The other day I watched a Joan Baez documentary and her efforts toward peace were mentioned along with a clip where she was sitting with others of the same persuasion singing Kumbaya. I wondered at the time how it had all gone so wrong and in less than a generation.
Then I remembered that along with growing up we tend to get more rigid in our beliefs. The conservatives become moreso and the liberals the same. At this point in my life I can honestly say the true denizens of the far right and I can in no way whatever see anything at all from a common point of agreement.
The first darkly depicted fellow is why.

So, there is a deficit. The best and fastest way to get rid of it is to cut politicians salaries and benefits by 20 to 50 percent. Yah, and hell will freeze over too.

Why not just legalize bribes and declare them taxable income? Do politicians pay income tax?

Hmm, they agree on NOT reducing defense spending, and prosecuting folks who get “touchy - feely”–on the internet–yep hypocrisy is alive and well.

R’s and D’s sitting together – gawd, I’m so impressed! A great Smoke and Mirrors show! Another example of idiocy alive and well in Washington.
