I’ll bet if Dad told the little bugger he had to stay up all night he’d crawl under the bed and go to sleep.

Calvin’s spirit has been everywhere hasn’t it?

Dad is a lawyer, in fact … but he’s a patent attorney. (Just like Watterson’s dad.)

Don’t ask me why I know this – I’m a trivia magnet.

Maybe Dad was so intimidating that Hobbes hid under the covers.

Don’t you just hate it when you look at the clock wrong, perk the coffee, raise the thermostat, and then discover you are up so early the paper hasn’t come? Too wide awake to go back to bed, so reading GoComics at 5:30 and still are WAY down on the comment string. Of course I am on Central time. Coffee’s ready. Bye.

I wonder what Calvin will be like when he is in his rebellious teens. “Quick everyone run for cover, Cal’s coming!!!”

I take it Calvin’s spirit is very close by.

All of the conclusions Calvin’s derived from his model of ‘body and spirit’ have proven inconsistent with observation – he might want to rethink the underlying theory.

@mythreesons, right there with you! For me, I understand just how Calvin feels, although I am now old enough that when the body wants to go to bed, it goes, with or without the spirit!

Mythreesons, my internal clock is often all messed up and often I find myself with my coffee here at gocomics at 4 AM.

Good thing dad didn’t say Calvin you can go to bed when you wish, Calvin would stay up long time.

Body and spirit have finally come to terms….sleep tight Calvin!

Truth hits everybody.

Calvin’s doing his dead level best to have “out of body experiences” but he keeps getting thwarted at every turn…………

Best to stay united and unity is a “good thing.”

Calvin - here’s the deal. Just take your truck with you to your room. When your parents have gone to sleep, just turn on the lights and play with your truck all you want. Your parents are going to wonder some more about you when they find you sleeping face down on the floor the following morning…

Calvin’s spirit may lag behind the body–but it always seems to catch up to where he is now.

This morning, Calvin didn’t even want to leave his bed! Now he’s fighting the ability to rejoin his spirit back where he last left it? Go figure!

Meanwhile, where’s Hobbes? He hasn’t been seen all day or evening! Did the monsters under the bed get him this morning after Calvin left for school (courtesy of his mom forcibly removing him and tossing him out the door)?

he wouldn’t dare go under the bed, that’s were the monsters hide and wait for him, (and drool by the way)

I think Calvin is learning a very valuable lesson… better to keep body and spirit in the same place…

and don’t cross Dad or else!

I can’t remember, a time, when I wouldn’t rather be in bed.

Calvin come to terms with your so called spirit and start blaming the real culprit.

I guess I’ve been saying it alot lately because my granddaughter’s repeating it, “Oh great, I should have stayed in bed!”.
