Some people choose to make their lives tough climbing and then lose them forever on whatever tallest peak they are trying to conquer. But then some make it and back again, giving some kind of emotional high. This behavior becomes quite addictive I have observed.
Well said, odeliasimone. Hot cocoa with marshmallows also can become addictive. But it’s usually a safer form of addiction than adrenaline. And afterwards, I think it leaves a better taste in your mouth.
I like both those activities. I add some brandy and Tia Maria to my hot chocolate and then once I have finished the beverage I have lost all fear and common sense. In the morning I wonder why I have all of these bruises.
So much for the theory that God gives us disasters so that we will appreciate the good times. We don’t need bad to understand good. A good Snowball (Hot cocoa and peppermint schnapps) is better sitting by the fire, than in the recovery room.
It didn’t seem to take a lot of persuasion for Calvin to realize that Hobbes’s idea was not only safer, but much better and tastier. And whoever missed HOBBES’s postings, needs to read the last few days. Had a good running conversation with us.
Same feeling every time on Walt Disney World Tower of Terror when that car creeps down the hallway and clunks into position before those doors open in front of you, and you drop and rise and drop and rise and rise and drop and rise and drop. Adrenaline surging and everyone screaming the whole time. Fantastic!
Calvin and Lio’s snow goons should all be introduced to each other! If they were, oh the havoc that would be brought down on the towns in which they live!
@BMONK: My very earliest memory is riding a tricycle down a long hill. When I checked it out later it was the minor slope of a neighbor’s driveway. Must have been about 2yo.
That’s why apres-ski is so appreciated; the celebration of the survivors.
One of my earliest is the time (also at about two) I escaped my uncle Dewey in Barstow, taking my hot-rod down the road toward the main highway, Dewey limping along after me in his stocking feet over the hot gravel; (the hot-rod was my stroller with the bottom grating recently removed, and it was hot stuff!)

There may not be any adrenalin, but Hobbes really knows how to live life to the fullest.
Good Morning, Marg, Mike & ♠Lonewolf♠!
Bittermelon of Truth about 14 years ago
Calvin decided that sort of living (no broken bones) and somewhat appreciating life were good enough at the moment. Good move!
TheSkulker about 14 years ago
Speaking of wisdom, where is Hobbes? We haven’t heard from him for days.

Drinking the cocoa together is much better, than alone! Cocoa with a bit whipped cream!

Life doesn’t always have to be tough sledding, unless we choose to make it that way.

Hobbs is Calvin’s Alter-Ego, I just wish Calvin would listen to him more.

On the cold days, I drink hot chocolate at the barn piping hot with a shot of peppermint schnapps mixed in.
My doctor recommended that I have 1 or 2 alcoholic beverages a day. It helps lower the bad cholesterol, and raise the good cholesterol.
My friends want to be seen by my doctor! :-)

It was not wisdom. Hot cocoa marshmallows a warm fire or. The danger and adrenalin will still be there later if needed.

I went back to our neighborhood “Mount Maim” a few years back as an adult.
Someone must have landscaped it down to nearly nothing.

I really prefer whipped cream on my hot cocoa.
Strangely as a sugar addict marshmallows are too sweet. They are really excellent for lighting on fire at the end of sticks over a fire though ( :

I always have the water hot enough to melt the marshmellows into the hot chocolate and stir! Yum!!!
